Monday

10/20/08

Monday, Monday -- I love being home this day. I used to have Mondays off when we were allowed to work a compressed work week. (I'm still bitter!). I requested to have this particular Monday off because Abby and Tess and I made a weekend jaunt and I knew I would need to recover. It is a BEAUTIFUL fall day. I just love fall so much--absolutely my favorite season--and this year the temps have been remarkable. The colors are just so-so, but still better than the empty tree branches to come.
So, the weekend went great. Traveling with an eight-week old is easy--not much equipment needed, and sleep is still the primary activity. We left Columbus around 7 p.m. Tess slept all the way. Abby slept some of the way. I listened to 70's music on satellite radio. The Sutphins hosted us that night. Harrison and Colin gave up their bedrooms (thanks guys!) and slept on the floor of Heather and Rj's room. There was barely enough time for visiting before we all had places to be the next morning. Saturday travel was even easier as it was daylight, a shorter distance, and Tess again slept the entire way. Cousin Judi hosted us, Aunt Mary and Cinda at her and Michael's beach house near Lake Michigan. It's a five-bedroom house, sleeping space for 12 people easily. We played Scrabble, played with Tess, ate, talked, and walked on the beach. Again, perfect fall weather, even on the Great Lake. Sunday we headed home at 6 p.m. with tentative plans to again stay over in Fort Wayne. However, we decided to plod on and made it home to Columbus at 11:30 p.m. Guess who slept the entire way? Yep, Tess. Abby most of the way. I started to feel the need, but one stop for a taco and a pepsi fixed that. The rising moon was gorgeous to watch while driving home.
Today, Monday, I slept in, unpacked, ran errands, and later will get to visit with Sister and Mother to hear about their weekends and tell about mine.
