January is over tomorrow--where-oh-where have I been?
Let's see, I spent the first day of the year at my sister's house visiting, playing Scrabble, eating her home-made chicken and noodles, and munching on brownies.
I have been to the dentist for a cleaning, and have a two-hour appointment tomorrow for a crown prep and a couple minor fillings.
I had the final deep-tissue massage of my 10-visit package followed by a high-crackin' adjustment with the chiropractor. As soon as I can rustle up some spare money, I'm getting another massage package--it just helps/hurts/helps so much. See the chiro again in two weeks.
At book club we discussed Midwives by Chris Bohjalian--I loved this book! Alas, I have started our current book twice, but can't abide the writing. Love In the Time of Cholera is a highly recommended book--however, I find myself thinking of other things I would rather be doing while I am reading, and thus I have given up on it.
Had the newly assigned claims adjuster to our house in an effort to get some action on closing out our June lightning claim. Really, does it have to take this long? We changed insurers in November, but still have to deal with the old company on the claim, blah blah blah.
Sweet Adelines rehearsals started up again after having three weeks off in December. I fully enjoy these rehearsals. I leave feeling better about myself, about life, about going to work the next day. I attended my first Winter Warm-Up which is an annual weekend retreat of learning more about singing. It was in Indianapolis, so I..............
Took Friday off work. Traveled with Becca to Indy where we both stayed at my high school friend Kathy's house. Kathy has two guest rooms--we had one, and Kathy's sister with her hubby and child had the other. I skipped the first session of Sweet Adelines (SA) that night to go out to dinner with Kathy and Becca. But I was fully devoted to the SA sessions all day Saturday from 7:30 AM to 5 PM. Becca & I, Teri & Olivia, and Janice & Nan all had dinner together and then all went to the SA show for the evening. My chorus performed two songs, Sway and Let's Get Away From It All, in Hawaiian-shirt- touristy clothing and full make-up. Fun, fun, fun. Back at Kathy's house Becca & I, Mary Jo & Jason, and Kathy & Bruce stayed up until 1:30--holy cow! We didn't get out to "breakfast" on Sunday until 12:30......... Becca's friend Kelly and her 10-year-old son joined us at The Pancake House for truly scrumptious pancakes and waffles. Then it was time for the 3.5 hour drive home.
I see Abby and Tess frequently; had fun playing hide-and-seek one evening with Jo and Tess; haven't seen Jacob at all (except electronically); had a good visit with Phillip at our house last night.
Got my hair cut. Not too drastic, but I finally gave in to some layering because I have these flashes of hotness that just make me so uncomfortable (hmm....) that I now have my hair off my neck in the back but a bit longer in the front. It's a bob cut.
And that's January.
