It was the best of weeks, it was the worst of weeks..........
But at least I finally took the time to find out why my posts weren't posting. I was even able to fix the problem fairly quickly. So, now I will attempt to update on the month of May.
I'll do the "worst of weeks" first. I have simply been exhausted. Physically because, and yes I am going to do some complaining here, my hormones are extremely whacked, my neck/shoulder area continues to be a "thorn in my side", and the mental stress at work wears me out. Over the three-day weekend I can let it go, but step back into the office on Tuesday, and from then until Friday at 5 PM it is non-stop misery. This too shall pass--I think by July 2? Here's the deal. Our office location is being closed, and people have been moved to several different locations, so it is an emotional break-up each time (three!) a new group leaves. The last group of us (my group) is moving some time in the next two weeks--we still don't have the official date--and it is like a ghost-town at the office. On top of that, we know there are several lay-offs coming on or near July 1, but we don't know who. It's hard to keep up morale with all the changes plus the unknown near future. Plus it's been gray and cold outside, so there!
The Best of Weeks: Ta da -- the great room is painted and is beautiful! Okay, there is a wet crack in the drywall that needs to dry out and the roof get repaired at the point of wetness entry before that particular spot can be painted--but almost Ta Da! The new bookshelves have been filled. I'm still working on getting every little thing into a new home, but I can feel the end is near.
Family: Phillip made his move to Syracuse and quickly found two jobs to pay the rent. Jo is transitioning from working at Jacob's bar to returning to Whole Foods in the prepared foods section while excelling at her school studies. Abby also continues to excel in her studies and in being a super mom. Jacob had a one-year anniversary party for Kobo this past weekend! Tess is perfect, of course. Audie saved us a bundle of money by doing lots of prep work for the painters and by "sawing and installing" the bookshelves. He's also head engineer and repairman for the roof. He's also the official furniture mover, even after getting 12 staples in his scalp from the stereo cabinet falling on top of him. His parents always said, "Audie, if it weren't for your head, you'd never get hurt at all".
Mother's Day was nice -- lunch here at the house with Audie, his mom, our daughters and granddaughter. Dinner out with Jacob & Erica, followed by a Scrabble game at home which I won.
So, really, life is good. (Until I go back into that office tomorrow morning.....)
