Summer Singing

Hilliard 8.28.11
This past Sunday our chorus had our final summer performance -- after singin' and sweatin' much of the season, we ended with a beautiful evening of perfect temperature, a slight breeze, and a setting sun.  (Much better than last year at the same location/same time of year, when there was the threat of humidity-induced sweat and nasty flies falling into our mouths with every note.)

Actually, the first summer performance was pretty nice weather also.  It was at the nicest park and drew the biggest audience.  Jo and Christie got paid to transport and set up the risers.  Barbara Ann was in town.  Jacob, Erica, Becca, Abby and Tess all came.

The next performance, unfortunately, was at the funeral of one of our members who died unexpectedly.  I don't have a picture, but I wish I did, because at the request of her daughter who is also a chorus member, we dressed in bright colors and lots of bling, because that's what Linda loved.

The two hottest sing-outs:  one in a beautiful suburban garden, one in Downtown Columbus.

My favorite performance since starting with Sweet Adelines is the night we sang at Harmony Camp on the stage of Vets Memorial.  It was full make-up and costume, none of the pressure of competition, an audience full of barber-shoppers, and four songs that I love.  Okay, three I love, one I only like.  Oh yeah, and I got to make my debut off the risers.  That just means it was easier for Becca to get a picture of me than it usually is.  And, by the way, the temperature in that auditorium was very comfortable as well.

Yes, it was a good summer for singing.
